Adware // Software that secretly gathers personal information and tracks Internet usage usually for marketing purposes. Adware can be downloaded inadvertently or included in free software, via email or across instant messenger applications.

Cookies // A file containing text that identifies you to a particular website but can also be used for marketing purposes and customised ad responses.

Diallers
// (Premium rate diallers) Applications which make a connection to the Internet via a premium rate number or website to accrue charges without your permission or knowledge.

Hacker // An individual intent on entering an environment without permission normally by using devices to intercept private communications.

IP Spoofing // The interception of an active Internet session by an attacker in an attempt to impersonate the true user.

Spyware // Software programs that can secretly monitor system activity, in order to detect passwords or other confidential information and transmit them to another computer.

Trojan // Hidden and/or time detonated program that neither replicates nor copies itself, but causes damage or compromises the security of your computer.

Virus // A program or code that replicates; that is, infects another program, system hook or document.

Worm // A program that makes copies of itself by using email or another transport mechanism.
